The Faculty of Information (FI), iSchool Institute is dedicated to meeting the needs of information professionals and others interested in information issues or in learning new information technologies.

We are the largest continuing education program for the information field in the country and one of the largest in the world, offering certificate programs, web-based distance education courses, and a series of one-day courses on subjects of interest to the profession. Courses are practical, interactive whenever possible, and cover topics ranging from the Internet and other information technologies, to administration and management issues, client services, and personal and professional development.
Courses are held to a high academic standard, taught by instructors who are recognized leaders in their field. The Faculty has excellent teaching facilities. All courses are offered in an appropriate classroom setting or in the Faculty's computer labs. Computer workstations are loaded with the latest professional and generic software and have a high speed Internet connection.
About the Faculty of Information
The Faculty of Information is a professional graduate faculty of the University of Toronto and the home of a broad-based group of information professionals. FI offers two degree programs: a doctoral program (Ph.D.) and a Master of Information Studies program (M.I.St.) with three specializations: archival studies, information systems, and library and information science. Graduates work in a wide range of information settings as librarians, information systems specialists, web designers, educators, archivists, researchers, records managers, and information consultants. FI also offers a (MMSt) Museum Studies Program.

The Toronto and National Capital Region Chapters of ARMA - The Association of Records Managers and Administrators have partnered with The iSchool Institute to offer foundational courses in records management. With the support of an Advisory Committee of senior ARMA members, The iSchool Institute offers two certificate programs: Records Management Fundamentals and Records Management Practice
Founded in 1900, the Ontario Library Association is the oldest continually operating library association in Canada. With over 5,000 members, the OLA is the largest library association in the country. It is part of The Partnership, a group of Canadian provincial and territorial library associations collaborating in The Education Institute: continuing education programs in various formats: online via your desktop, audio conferences, webcasts and face-to-face programs. Over 100 new courses are offered yearly.
The Ontario Library Association and The iSchool Institute are collaborating to strengthen and promote their respective continuing education courses and events. The iSchool Institute will be offering 12% off the cost of their courses for all current and personal memberships with Ontario Library Association.
The Special Libraries Association (SLA), founded in 1909 in the state of New York, is now the global organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners. SLA promotes and strengthens its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives.
The iSchool Institute, Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto works in partnership with Click University of the Special Libraries Association to deliver relevant and quality professional development opportunities to the SLA members. All current and personal membersips with SLA are entitled to an 11% discount on our web-based courses.
